Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program elisting the active participation of citizens, in cooperation with law enforcement, to reduce crime in our communities.
Neighborhoods are divided by blocks; a captain is elected by a neighborhood group to represent his/her block. An initial meeting is scheduled with a Torrance Police Department representative where participants learn how to report and identify suspicious activities and individuals while implementing crime prevention techniques. Subsequent meetings follow.
This program teaches citizens how to work together in creating the strongest crime prevention technique...neighbors looking out for each other. Call the number above for more information. Click here for more information on our Partners in Policing program.

Tips on online safety for children:
Do not give out personal information, such as your address, telephone number, parent's work address/telephone number, or the name and location of your school, without your parents' permission.
Tell parents right away if you come across any information that makes you feel uncomfortable.
Never send a person your picture or anything else without first checking with your parents. Do not not download any picture and or document without checking with your parents.
Do not respond to any messages that are mean or in any way make you feel uncomfortable. It is not your fault if you get a message such as this. If you do, you will tell your parents right away so that they can contact the online service responsible.
Talk with your parents so that you can set up rules for going online. You and your parents will decide upon the time of day that you can be online, the length of time you can be online, and appropriate areas for you to visit. You will not access others areas or break these rules without their permission.
Senior Safety
This program is directed toward citizens in their golden years. Although surveys consistently show that persons over 65 are victims of crime far less often than young people, senior citizens suffer more as a result of crime. Seniors are more vulnerable to certain types of crimes; purse snatching, mugging, and fraud -- we try to teach seniors ways they can make themselves less likely to become a victim of crime.
Violence in the Workplace
This program teaches employers and employees typical signs of safety and security violations in the workplace. Information is given on what to look for and how to report crimes and at risk situations. This program can be given to large corporations or to small businesses.
