In an effort to help citizens of Torrance prepare for disasters, the City of Torrance Emergency Services Division invites the community to the City's Disaster Preparedness Expo on Saturday, September 29, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Expo is free and will be held at the Torrance Cultural Arts Complex located at 3300 Civic Center Drive.
This event will be fun for the whole family. There will be vendors with displays, selling disaster related supplies. Additionally, first responders from the community will be there addressing the City of Torrance's commitment to being prepared in the case of a major disaster or emergency. The Torrance Fire Department and Hazardous Materials teams will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice. Members of the Search and Rescue division of the Fire department will also be there, to share with their exciting experiences and effective rescue procedures. The Torrance Police Department will have their emergency equipment and personnel present along with displays for the community to view including display booths from the City's Animal Control Unit, SWAT and South Bay Platoon.
