The mission of the Torrance Cultural Services Division is to bring the joy and excitement of the arts to the Torrance and South Bay communities. With performance venues at the Center and throughout the City, and with a variety of groups working with the Division, it is possible to present a very diverse range of performances year round. Here is a look at some of the groups that the Division presents.

Torrance Theatre Company group is best known for the adult musical presented at the Armstrong Theatre every summer. But with the completion of the George Nakano Theatre, this group presents a diverse season of small musicals, contemporary works, and classic pieces.

Torrance Youth Theatre is a unique youth production program, where any child between the ages of 9 and 18 is welcome to join the cast regardless of experience. The Division has produced a dozen full-length musicals over the last 5 years, all of which are performed in the James Armstrong Theatre. The youth theatre program is run by StarLight Productions.

Torrance Civic Chorale has provided the community with choral music, musical instruction and cultural improvement since 1961. With 100 members, the auditioned Chorale is under the direction of Conductor, David Burks. The Chorale performs two annual concerts and participates in regional music festivals and City events.

Regina Klenjoski Dance Company, artist in residence with the Cultural Services Division, has  instructed and presented artistic programs to thousands of individuals in the South Bay since 1999. It is led by director Regina Klenjoski, a 2003 Public Corporation for the Arts Fellow. RKDC has been recognized many times for cutting edge achievements in dance performance and unwavering dedication to the community in outreach programming. RKDC provides a source of artistic vision that includes dancers, guest performers, a resident composer and costume designer, lighting and scenic design artists as well as a number of collaborating organizations sharing the common purpose of furthering the performing arts.
