Aikido Club
Torrance Aikido Club (Chief Instructor, Clarence Chinn Sensei, Rokudan), offers instruction in contemporary martial arts based on the coordination of mind and body. Artists Guild
Torrance Artist Guild offers Art By The Beach-The Torrance Artist Guild will host an Art Show and Sale at Miramar Park starting in Spring 2001 on April 1st, May 6th, June 3rd, July 1st, August 5th, September 2nd and October 7th. Artwork will be exhibited from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on the first Sunday of each month. All artists are invited to participate. Call Betty Kohler 310.375.6231 for more information.
Co-Rec Club
The Co-Rec Club features the best D.J.'s around, who play all the latest hits. Plus a snack bar and game room. Lucky members win door prizes at each dance.
Membership in this exclusive club is $15 per person, which includes a monthly newsletter and a Co-Rec I.D. card. Memberships are available prior to each dance. You'll need a school I.D. card or last year's Co-Rec card in order to purchase your membership. New sixth graders may bring a fifth-grade report card or a print out of your current school schedule. (NOTE: Notes will not be accepted.)
Dances are held twice monthly on Friday nights from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm, unless otherwise noted, at the Ken Miller Recreation Center, 3341 Torrance Boulevard Parents, please be prompt in picking up your children. You Must Be a Member to attend these dances, but you may attend one dance as a guest prior to becoming a member.
Craftsmen's Guild
Torrance Craftsmen's Guild promotes interest in arts and crafts and the exchange of artistic ideas. Members include jewelers, woodcrafters, ceramists, metal sculptors and doll makers. Meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Ken Miller Recreation Center. Annual membership fee is $30. If you're a Crafter, please consider joining the Torrance Craftsmen's Guild. Dog Obedience Club
The Dog Obedience Club of Torrance conducts Tuesday night classes year round at Walteria Park, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. The next session is tentatively (depending on the weather) scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 9, 2003. To confirm the exact date, please call instructors Jose Butzirus after 5:30 pm at 310.373.5628. A registration fee of $50.00 is payable at the first class session. Dog owners must be at least 16 years of age and the dog six months or older and on a leash.
The Dog Obedience Club has their monthly meetings on the first Thursday on each month at 7:30 pm and all guests are welcome to attend. NO dogs at these meetings.
Fencing Club
The Torrance Fencing Club provides instruction in the European-style of fencing and the opportunity to enter competition. Youths meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm Adults meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm Classes meet at the Ken Miller Recreation Center. Equipment fee is $2 and applies to adults only.

Judo the "Gentle Way" Physical and mental education of the mind and body. Excellent physical workout that increases stamina and physical conditioning. Builds, strength, endurance, physical toughness. Kendo Club
The Kendo Club teaches the skillful use of the sword, as well as mental and physical self-control and self-development. Open to youths (10 years of age and older) and adults. Beginning class meets on Tuesdays from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm Intermediate and advanced classes meet on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm Classes are held at the Cultural Arts Center. Classes are on Tuesday and Thursdays at the new Wilson Park Gymnasium. Class starts Tuesday, September 23. Class times are for Juniors (6 - 13): Beginning Students meet from 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm, Intermediate and Advance Juniors Students from 7:15 pm - 8:30 pm. Naginata Club
The Naginata Club offers instruction in the ancient martial art of Naginata (pole-art). Naginata has developed into an international art form, and teaches not only physical technique, but mental awareness, concentration, etiquette, and self-development. Instruction is offered to juniors (10 and above) and adults. The Club meets on Thursdays from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm in Studio 1 at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center.
