Ted Lieu, Council Member : E-mail Ted Lieu was elected to his first term on the City Council in 2002. He is currently Chair of the Public Safety Committee and is also a member of the Transportation Committee and Employee Relations Committee, as well as the Legislative and Armed Forces Ad Hoc Committees. Councilman Lieu formerly served as an ambassador for the Torrance Chamber of Commerce and as the Director of the Leadership Torrance Class of 2000. Prior to being elected to the Council, he served on the Environmental Quality and Energy Conservation Commission. His service in the community includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Switzer Center and the Torrance-South Bay YMCA. Mr. Lieu is also a lifetime member of the Torrance Historical Society, Reserve Officers Association, and Friends of Torrance Library. Mr. Lieu is a Corporate Vice President with UBS and also serves as a reservist with the United States Air Force.
