CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Slurry Seal - 9/21-23/09 @ Del Amo & Anza
Next week, the West Basin Municipal Water District will be crack sealing and then slurry sealing the south side of Del Amo Blvd. from Victor Street to Anza Avenue and Anza Avenue from Del Amo Blvd. to Carson Street. Areas that have been slurry sealed are off limits to traffic for six hours after application, making this work disruptive to residents for the day of application.
On Monday, September 21, 2009, West Basin will be slurry sealing the residential streets with recycled water mains. Those streets include Entradero Avenue and Halison Street off of Del Amo Blvd.; Spencer Street, Emerald Street, Lee Street and Lenore Street off of Anza Avenue.
Also to be slurry sealed is the #2 lane (curb lane) on Del Amo and Anza Avenue and Carson Street east of Anza Avenue.
On Tuesday, September 22, 2009 West Basin will have the #1 lanes slurry sealed (the fast lane) on Del Amo and Anza Avenue and Carson Street east of Anza Avenue.
On Wednesday, September 23, 2009 West Basin will slurry seal any pockets left for traffic flow at the intersections.
Please contact John C. Dettle, ext. 3059 if you have any questions.
NOTICE OF STREET CONSTRUCTION
The City of Torrance will be upgrading the T-1 Water Flow Control Vault located in the center of 190th Street west of Western Avenue. This Vault was constructed circa 1951 as the first Metropolitan Water District (MWD) interconnection to provide drinking water to Torrance. In 2007, the Vault was determined to be out of compliance with California's Code of Regulations regarding confined space entry. This project was developed to bring the vault into regulatory compliance, making it a safer facility for workers. The project entails removing the existing roof and constructing a new roof with two worker access hatches and two equipment hatches.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS & ACCESS
Construction will begin on Thursday, September 3, 2009 and last approximately 90 working days. Re-striping of the 405 Freeway on/off ramp will take place between the hours 11:00pm to 3:00am on September 3, 2009. On Friday, September 4, 2009, traffic control will be placed and saw cutting of the street will begin. Excavation work will begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Construction will occur Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. Westbound traffic on 190th Street west of Western Avenue and at the 405 freeway on/off-ramp will be reduced from three to two lanes for the duration of the project. Eastbound traffic on 190th will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes only during working hours. Traffic from Western Avenue to westbound 190th Street should proceed with caution. Delays are expected and the City encourages the use of alternate routes.
