Senior Tree Trimmer

Definition

Under supervision, supervises and performs tree surgery and maintenance duties, and does related work as required.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Distinguished from a Tree Trimmer in that supervision as a working leadman is required; distinguished from a Tree Trimmer Leadman in that full-time supervision is not required but is restricted to a single crew.

Examples Of Duties

  • Performs basic and advanced tree surgery in the maintenance of ornamental trees;
  • supervises the work of others in his crew as required;
  • operates truck and other mechanical equipment;
  • reports tree and equipment conditions to supervision;
  • delineates equipment and manpower requirements to supervision.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Knowledge of:
  • Methods and equipment used in pruning, trimming, bracing, cabling and treatment of trees.
  • Ability to:
  • Perform active, strenuous physical labor;
  • Use various types of tree trimming equipment;
  • Work from high ladders;
  • Read, understand and act upon written material at the high-school graduate level;
  • Write clear and comprehensive statements of work instructions,
  • work performed and work completed;
  • Work effectively with fellow employees.
  • License Required

    A valid California Motor Vehicle operator's License of the appropriate class or grade.

    Experience

    Two years of tree trimming or related tree care experience.

    Education

    High school graduation desired.
