Dates, Times & Activities

For the 50th Annual Armed Forces Day, the following events will occur in the City during the weekend of May 15-17, 2009:

FRIDAY, MAY 15

EXHIBITS: Our observance begins on Friday, May 15, 2009 with the opening of the military exhibits at the Del Amo Fashion Center. View the variety of equipment including aircrafts, vehicles, support equipment and get to know military personnel. The exhibits will continue through the weekend until Sunday, May 17, at 3:00 p.m.

10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

CONCERT: On Friday, May 15 at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., the United States Navy Band of the Southwest will perform for free at the James Armstrong Theatre located at 3330 Civic Center Drive.

SATURDAY, MAY 16

PARADE: The 50th Annual Armed Forces Day Parade will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at 1:30 p.m.  The parade route begins at Crenshaw Boulevard traveling west on Torrance Boulevard and ending at Madrona Avenue.  All streets intersecting the parade route will be closed the majority of the day.  Torrance's parade is the longest-running Armed Forces Day Parade in the nation.  As one of few cities designated by the Department of Defense, the City of Torrance is proud to honor the men and women of our nation's Armed Forces.

1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

EXHIBITS: The outdoor military exhibits at the Del Amo Fashion Center continue.  View the variety of equipment including aircrafts, vehicles, support equipment and get to know military personnel.  The exhibits will continue through the weekend until Sunday, May 17, at 3:00 p.m.

9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

SUNDAY, MAY 17

EXHIBITS: The outdoor military exhibits at the Del Amo Fashion Center continue.  View the variety of equipment including aircrafts, vehicles, support equipment and get to know military personnel.  The outdoor military exhibits at the Del Amo Fashion Center will end on Sunday, May 17, at 3:00 p.m.
