Stormwater Basin Enhancement Program

Basins in the Program:

Location map for all five basins (.pdf)

Why this project is needed:

South Bay cities are required by the Regional Water Quality Control Board of Los Angeles to prevent stormwater with bacteria from being discharged to the Santa Monica Bay.  Therefore, the City of Torrance is improving these stormwater basins in West Torrance to provide natural treatment systems, improve groundwater recharge, and provide the community more opportunities for sports fields and walking trails.

Project Benefits:

  • Stormwater treatment through trash screens, natural systems and infiltration basins
  • Habitat restoration
  • Enhance public viewing
  • Sports fields
  • Naturalized walking trails
  • Groundwater recharge
  • Improved landscaping and aesthetics
  • Water conservation

Community Workshops:

The City of Torrance is hosting Community Workshops to solicit input from residents and stakeholders regarding the City's Stormwater Basin Enhancement Program.  The Community Workshops will be an opportunity for all residents and stakeholders to provide valuable input on the projects while they are in this early conceptual stage.  All meetings will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria at Anza Elementary School located at 21400 Ellinwood Drive, Torrance, CA 90503.
