Tom Brewer, Council Member; E-mail 3031 Torrance Blvd., Torrance, Calif. 90503 Ph:   (310) 618-2801 Fax: (310) 618-5841 Tom Brewer was elected to his first term on the City Council on June 6, 2006.  A resident of Torrance for 53 years, he has served in the City's Civil Service Commission since 1999, and served as chairman of the commission from 1999 to 2000 and from 2005 to 2006.  Prior to his appointment to the Civil Service Commission, he also served on the Environmental Quality and Energy Conservation Commission from 1996 to 1999 wherein he was chairman from 1998 to 1999. As a council member, he serves as chair of the Transportation Committee, a member of the Citizen Development and Enrichment Committee, a member of the Public Safety Committee, and a member of the Armed Forces Day Committee.  He is also a voting delegate to the Independent Cities Association and to the Municipal Area Express (MAX).  In addition, he serves as alternate delegate to the South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) and a member of the Ethics and Integrity Committee. He has been contributing to the community through his involvement in organizations such as the Torrance Education Foundation, Southwood Riviera Homeowners' Association and of the Southern California Branch American Society of Microbiology.  Tom Brewer is a Clinical Microbiologist  at UCLA Medical Center.
